#smarterhiphop #submission by estate publicist Legendary Music Producer Rick Hall Dies at 85, Family Issues Statement

Legendary Music Producer Rick Hall Dies at 85, Family Issues Statement
Legendary music producer and FAME Studios founder Rick Hall has died at the age of 85. Hall died this morning at his home in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, not far from his world famous recording studio.

The family has issued the following statement:

It is with the deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of our father, husband and beloved grandfather, Rick Hall. His spirit will live on forever through the massive amount of legendary music that he so tirelessly produced. Music was his life and because of him, Fame Studios and Muscle Shoals will always be “shooting for the stars!" We hope the band in Heaven is ready. If not, there’s going to be a problem.

Rick Hall made music history when he founded FAME Recording Studios in Muscle Shoals. Hall went on to earn international fame and eventually a Grammy for Lifetime Achievement. In the days when Martin Luther King Jr. was marching for freedom, Hall proved to be a civil rights pioneer through his music. His open collaboration among black and white artists was a revolutionary cultural standard not only to “deep south” Alabama, but to the nation at large. FAME’s color blind atmosphere, and the raw music it produced, would help shape American culture during its most troubled and tumultuous time.

Considered the “Father of the Muscle Shoals Sound,” Hall helped define a generation by pioneering a new sound that would inspire artists, give birth to new kinds of music and launch the careers of hundreds of superstars, songwriters, musicians and music executives. Record executives literally flocked to Muscle Shoals for Hall to produce and engineer a mind-boggling array of major artists, including Aretha Franklin, Clarence Carter, Mac Davis, Wilson Pickett, Etta James, Alabama, Tom Jones, Allman Brothers, The Osmonds, Shenandoah, Wayne Newton, TG Sheppard, Larry Gatlin & The Gatlin Brothers, Little Richard, Lou Rawls and so many more. With more than 300 hit singles to his credit, and more than 40 Gold and Platinum records, Hall was one of the top producers of Pop, Rock, R&B and Country records in the world.

Hall was featured in the 2013 Grammy Award-winning documentary "Muscle Shoals,” and in 2015 he released his autobiography, "The Man from Muscle Shoals: My Journey from Shame to Fame,” with a foreword by famed music historian Peter Guralnick. A television series centered around Hall and FAME Studios is currently in development.

Hall is survived by his wife Linda, sons Rick Jr., Mark and Rodney, as well as his 5 grandchildren, Rebecca, Mary Elizabeth, Jackson, Sara and Sam.

Hall’s family requests privacy at this time. All media requests should be directed to Brian Mayes at Nashville Publicity Group,

Trinity Soulstars – Light Body Therapy (Official Music Video)

Light Body Therapy is a trippy, auto-tune drenched anthem that intends to pull the listener out of the commonplace limitations of daily life. The video was shot in a cabin during a blizzard deep in the Adirondack Mountains of upstate NY and symbolizes the Soulstars’ journey of healing oneself from the inside out. In true DIY fashion Light Body Therapy was recorded, mixed, mastered and edited by the Soulstars themselves, with the video being shot by the talented Ben "The Shooter" Cleeton.

The NYC-based world traveling emcee, Timid, connects with underground rap legend Q-Unique (Arsonists) for a lyrically rich, conversation-starting new single, “Who’s To Blame,” bolstered by Skammadix’s strings-heavy production.

Those who have heard Timid’s previous work, including this year’s great “I Love You” single, already know how the New Yorker can get busy on the mic. Whereas that track was definitely more romantic and personal, “Who’s To Blame” is a call for answers and for people to actually admit when they’re wrong without pointing fingers elsewhere.

On Q-Unique’s verse, he details a number of well-known excuses, from music’s influence to parental abuse, given by folks who may be unable to shoulder blame for their own actions. While Timid follows that same lead, he flips the script a bit by rapping like he’s looking someone dead in the eye with lines like, “Or maybe you truly think/ That you’re more deservin’/ And others less worthy/ Which is actually more disturbing.”

“Who’s to Blame” is now available through all major digital retailers and streaming platforms!

Smarterhiphop #Submission by @DaBluntIsLit Tracks from the “Focus On The Real” Album by Ash DaBlunt

Artist Name:

Ash DaBlunt

Oakland, Ca

Music Genre:

Produce Until Something Happens Entertainment or P.U.$.H. Ent. (Production Label)

Born & raised in Oakland, Ca; Ash DaBlunt has always been exposed to diversity in lifestyles & cultures. After years of assisting other artists with their music by ghostwriting and producing under the name ChuckT, he decided to start writing songs of his own but under a different name. Blending his northern California background with his Jamaican, Creole, & Native American Cherokee tribe heritage Ash creates music that not only bridges the slight gap between the cultures but also merges them together creating music that people can relate to & gain inspiration from. Utilizing his Native American heritage, Ash tells stories over Hip-Hop music that paint vivid & compelling images through rhyme. The name Ash DaBlunt was chosen as a way to pay homage to his Native American Cherokee tribe roots because it reflects the Native American naming culture of having a name that not only has a meaning but can also be a statement.

In the Summer of 2016 Ash made his debut with the release of his ChuckT produced single, “Way She Do It” which gained airplay on podcasts and radio stations across the globe such as Scotland (Freedom Talk Radio), Finland (@RQL_webradio(Instagram)), Pretoria, South Africa (rawjamz.mobi/), Washington D.C. (Excitement Radio), as well as different college radio stations around the United States.

Following his 2016 release of “Way She Do It” Ash took a break from writing music and went back to producing for artists under the name ChuckT while he prepared for the release of his album. During that time he produced “We Still Swim” by Messiah Ramkissoon which was featured on the Source Magazine’s website. In May 2017, Ash released “Down To My Last” produced by AFG of LA & himself as the 1st single from his November 2017 debut album “Focus on The Real”. With his debut Ash delivers an album that focuses less on the superficial things in life and more on the decisions and aspects of life that affect a person’s character & future. Released under the Produce Until Something Happens Entertainment label a.k.a. P.U.S.H. or P.U.$.H., the album features some of Ash’s own production but under the name ChuckT as well as NYC music producer Jay Pluto, Bay Area residents DaveCantRap & A.F.G. of L.A and Oakland native CSK Dray. The album also features rappers Jonathan, Supreme Power, Change, THE JAHZ, MacMe-Z, and Dave Clarke.
